How to get easy points at the Emirates Open day, Qatar Customer Experience meet and greet day and Etihad invite only assessment days.

Going to an Emirates, Etihad or Qatar open day or an invite only assessment day event can be stressful, and you need to demonstrate to the recruiters that you are able to handle the stress of the day’s events confidently and show your very best self. Often, your friends and team members will tell you to be yourself. No, that is not correct, you really need to be your very best self.

No matter how friendly the recruiter is towards you, it is never a chit-chat, they are not there to drum up a friendship or have a glass of wine with you. Never forget why you are there. The reason why you are there is to sell yourself, to sell your skills. If you fail to do that, you will lose the offer and have to repeat the whole process again in 6 months time. Do it well, do it once, and you will be there fulfilling your dreams in the shortest possible time.

So what actually happens on the Emirates 1 day recruitment. This is the story from one candidate - Alexandra.

- MY INTERVIEW PROCESSS + TIPS —

Hi everybody,

I passed my assessment day on 19th of Feb in Dubai & wanted to share with you some tips, as a lot of you are asking always !

Long story short : It was my 3rd try and I finally passed until Final interview !

DONT GIVE UP PLEASE stay resilient

I will share my timeline soon !

But before start with the interview process :

1. APPLY ONLINE

2. SHORTLISTED FOR ASSESSMENT DAY : you need to choose a day

Tips : I highly recommend you to be already prepared to join - make sure with your current employer about your period notice, visa cancellation time etc. or any other things to prepare yourself in case you pass - you never know ! ( i dont say resign I say collect informations)

Another tips :

PLEASE respect perfectly the grooming. Honestly some girls came with a bad bun or pants. I really advice you to come as you will prepare yourself to put the uniform on you will gain points !

For women :

Clothes : black knee long skirt, black blazer, skin tone tights, closed heels ( no boots please), white shirt with collar closed.

Makeup & hair : clean bun without baby hairs ( watch YouTube tutorials), red lipstick and full make up ( foundation, concealer, mascara, blush, bronzer etc) you need to look clean and well groomed.

You don’t need to have nail polish as long as they are short and clean.

For men : suit, good shoes, shaved beard, clean hands and nails, groomed hair.

3. ASSESSMENT DAY

Tips : Say Hello to everybody & don’t seat away from the group - join them and discuss get to know each other ! It will be helpful for the next step ! REMEMBER THEIR NAMES !

Trust me everybody is shy and understand how you feel !

You will then enter the room they will show you a quick video of Dubai and some Cabin Crew requirements.

They will talk about how important is it to not have any visible tattoos, scars etc. ( you will need to fill a paper after to tell if you have and where).

Then they will do height check up & 212 reach test.

Honestly if you are less than 160 cm you will not reach it. You need to reach 212cm on tip toes AND be more than 160 cm.

You cannot pass with only having a good height without reaching and reverse.

Please be aware that I think they height scale is not a normal one I think they extend it from 1 cm or more. They found my height a bit smaller than the day before I checked.

4. 1st Group discussion

You are in a small group of 5 persons (in my case) and you have a card and questions related behind. You will have 4/5 questions to answer. Each one of you choose a question and you have few minutes to agree with your group who will do which one. Then they will call your group to answer the question in front of everyone and show the picture. But first you will need to give a short and clear introduction of yourself and experiences before answering to that question.

Tips : ACTIVELY LISTEN TO YOUR GROUP - DONT CUT SOMEONE.

Wait until they finish their sentence to start talking. Don’t talk too much let others talk but at the same time don’t stay quiet. In both ways you will fail. Just be yourself listen and participate when you want to give your opinion. Also don’t hesitate to ask the person next to you what she or he thinks if you know her / his name its even better !

LISTEN TO THE GUIDELINES

Introduce yourself, be confident & smile : hello everyone, name, age, country, x years experience in customer service + sector.

Then answer clearly and briefly to the question.

Warning : DONT BE TOO LONG - stay clear and short. Some people talk about stories since they are babies they took 10 min omg don’t do that !

To answer the question : Dont Forget to find a way to describe the image with the KEY WORDS : Safety, Team, Customer, High Standard customer Service

If you say one of this keywords everytime your answer a question you will win points trust me.

> BREAK + BIG ELIMINATIONS

5. 2nd GROUP DISCUSSION

This one is harder because they will give you another image in small group again and you will need to choose a person to receive a special treatment. We don’t care about the answer you just need to discuss and share opinion with your group and agree on one person. You will need to explain why you choose this one and also explain why you didn’t choose another one.

You don’t choose who read the question or who answer to it. They decide and you do what they ask. This one you don’t need to stand you stay seated and speak to everyone.

Warning : you are not allowed to vote.

Tips : I think in this step if you are not able to participate and you still shy you will fail. But don’t over talk as well. Always stay balanced, smile and LISTEN to others.

Don’t forget to look at everybody and maintain a good and positive body language. Please be confident and humble it will show.

BREAK > ELIMINATIONS

6. ENGLISH TEST

I saw a lot of informations regarding this English test and I will explain what I faced. First of all we were only 8 at this step and 4 of us failed ! We were surprised because in these 4 a lot of them had very good oral communication English skills but not writing as seen. So don’t stress its a Grade 12 kind of test some question of tricky but the rest is normal. English is not my mother tongue neither I’m French so don’t worry everybody can do it.

Be focus, take it seriously. You will have a sentence and you will have an hole to fill in with the correct word to make the sentence correct.

You will need only 21 good answers on 30 to validate this step - it will take only 20 minutes maximum.

Tips : if you want to be more confident during this test I advice you to search on google this type of exercice to feel more confortable with it before your assessment day.

Another tips: some of our phone or in our mother tongue. You will be required to change the language of your phone in English during the session to be sure that the website appeared in English and not in your language. Or you will be eliminated.

Please learn how to change it before to don’t loose time the day of assessment.

> ÉLIMINATIONS

7. PICTURES - Pictures are all about typical customer service scenarios on board the Emirates aircraft.

They will give you a small break to arrange yourself and put more makeup if needed or change yourself. They will provide makeup, hair accessorize if you missing something.

Even a longer skirt if yours is too short ( which I don’t recommend).

Then you will need to smile with your beautiful teeths and they will take 1 full body picture & 1 close up.

8. EMIRATES CABIN CREW TEXT READING

They will now call you one by one to do a understanding test. You will need to read a short text providing informations about a service that you a customer can find in the plane ( it was my case).

And after you finish reading they will ask you directly questions on what your understood from it, can you explain the main subject and some characteristics.

It will take maximum 10 minutes then you will go outside to wait for Final interview.

Tips : Read with confidence. I imagined my self doing an announcement in the plane so it help me to have a calm and positive tone. Because I think they ask you to do this exercice to know how confident you are reading in another language and how much intention you put into it.

So take it seriously and everything will be fine

9. EMIRATES FINAL INTERVIEW ( finally !!)

In my case we were only 4 after all the eliminations since the English test. So they divided us in two groups. One group will be with the lady we were all the day and the other group will do the FI by teams in another room with a person from HQ. I was in the Teams group. I was quite afraid because we were lucky the person we had during our Emirates assessment day was super nice and kind !

So I was quite afraid about meeting a new person for this important interview but I stayed confident !

I will not explain all of my Emirates final interview but she asked me some of the questions I will highlight below. It’s a note I prepared myself before the assessment day and has a lot more in it. With this one you will be fully prepared to all possible questions at any Emirates, Qatar or Etihad final interview.

My Emirates final interview lasted 30 minutes some of us for maximum 45 minutes.

The Emirates recruiter asked me some questions regarding the position as indicated below. But also my weight, height, my bmi & when I can start (period notice).

Tips : Don’t lie about your notice period, trust me they will ask you again if it’s different you can have problems. Be honest !

If you want to lie which I not recommend at all about your weight, ensure you can manage to reach that weight before 7 days !

Because you can join in 7 days.

Then you go home finally waiting for GC ( golden call) or a sad email…

I hope I helped you !

Please don’t give up, be yourself don’t try to be someone you are not.

Don’t let any airline or anybody tells you you are not worthy, beautiful or perfect ok ?
